2016 LPC Congregational Retreat

A Heart for God

2016 LPC Congregational Retreat

May 20 – 22, 2016

Plans are well underway for this year’s congregational retreat that will be held on Friday, May 20 through Sunday, May 22 at the William Black Lodge in Montreat, NC.  The retreat will begin at 5:30 on Friday evening and will end after lunch on Sunday.

It is not too late to make plans to join us for this year’s retreat!  The retreat will be a great opportunity for fellowship with other congregational members, participating in a mission activity, enjoying some time in the lovely mountain setting.  Plus we also have a special guest speaker who will lead us in spiritual development focused on our theme of  “A Heart for God.”

Please complete a reservation form and submit it in the offering plate or to the church office by April 18th.  A deposit of $75 is due with your reservation.

Guest Speaker:

Sharon Vanpelt is a Certified Christian Educator with degrees from Lenoir-Rhyne College and Pfeiffer University.  She has served several congregations in the Presbytery of Charlotte as both musician and Director of Christian Education.  Through her work with small and larger churches, she has been able to explore her passion for Christian Education through both common educational programming and unique multi-generational events.  Sharon and her husband, Harry, are lifelong residents of Kannapolis, NC, where they enjoy time with their two sons and their dog, Pearl.

Our theme will be “A Heart for God.”  David is one of the most important leaders in the Old Testament.  Yet, while many of his actions had powerful influence on the development of Christianity, David also had his flaws.  David’s life can show us that true discipleship is a constant process of trying to do the right thing and recovering from times when we make wrong choices.  And God is with us through it all.

For those not attending the retreat, Regular service will be held in chapel and Charles Horne will bring the message.

Church Work Day

The Building and Grounds and Outreach Teams have scheduled a Church wide workday for Saturday, June 4th. Breakfast will be served at 8:30 and work to start at its conclusion. Projects proposed are:
Placing mulch around the playground equipment and painting the wings off the Upstairs’ fellowship hall. If you have another project idea to be considered during the workday, please submit it to Hank Jolly or Mac Carroll. We ask for interested members to please sign up early and choose which project you would like to work on.
Please let us know if you plan to help us by emailing or calling Jordan in the church office by May 15. Help us in our endeavor to make Limestone Presbyterian to be the best it can be!
